My experience with Cryotherapy....it can be an effective tool for treating Autoimmune

Hey Hashi Warriors!

Have you ever heard of Cryosauna or Cryofix?

Cryotherapy works by lowering the skin temperature of the body very rapidly and for a short period of time — usually for just a couple of minutes, and no more than 3 minutes. This is accomplished by spraying the body with a fine mist of safe, non-toxic nitrogen. (Nitrogen actually makes up 80% of our natural atmosphere.) The recipient steps into a cryotherapeutic chamber about the size of a spray-tan booth and receives the treatment while standing up.

I just had my first Cryotherapy session the other day. Initially I went in to treat sciatic nerve pain and the pain was gone almost immediately after one treatment!   In addition to that I felt increased energy levels right away, my mind was sharper and it also lifted my mood.

After reading more about it, I found medical studies showing that Cryotherapy can help alleviate chronic medical conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, Auto-immune disorders, Ankylosing Spondylosis, Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Dermatitis and Osteoporosis. Studies have also shown that Whole Body Cryotherapy is beneficial in the treatment of mood disorders, affective disorders, anxiety and depression.

With all of these benefits to consider, I think I’ll be figuring out how I can fit this in to my regimen so I can maintain the level of wellness I have achieved with Hashimoto’s thus far via diet, supplements and addressing root cause issues.

My hope is that by sharing something new and different like this it will inspire others to think outside the box about things we can do to improve our overall health and wellness.  What have you done today that is going to take your wellness forward?   As with anything new you add in, consult with your doctor before trying this. Please note that Cryotherapy isn't recommended for patients who have pacemakers or certain medical conditions like Raynaud's.

METABOLIC BOOST

The exposure to the extreme cold tricks the body into thinking that it is in Hypothermia, causing it to increase the metabolic rate in order to increase heat production to protect the core of the body. Although the body is not at risk, this process causes the body to “burn” between 500-800 calories.  Most clients notice a sound night’s sleep and the release of endorphins into the body leaves many clients with an immediate feeling of being energized and a positive outlook.
